Transfer!?

I would’ve never thought I’d want to transfer to  a new school. I have great friends here, good education, and good weekends. It’s just that too many aspects of this school are just “good” or not good at all. Next fall I will be attending a new school. There’s four possibilities and I can end up in Washington D.C, Atlanta, Cincinnati, or West Virginia. If you want to know why, I just need a change. I need a more active campus with less whiney and negative people. Bigger school and I wouldn’t mind bigger classes which sounds weird but it’s how I feel. There’s more reasons too but once I do figure out where I’m going and my major, this blog will actually go through some changes. The name might not be the same or the site, who knows. Don’t be surprised when it becomes more focused on my career path (which is actually up in the air now). Don’t worry it’ll still be me, but just more focused. Yes repetitive, I know.

Ball in the Fall

So Halloween fun has passed by along with expectations of warm weather everyday. This period of Fall and Winter is off season for me since my last fall season game of Rugby was last Saturday. This Saturday was lso a great day because I scored (As a freshman I only got two starts in the whole season and made the most out of them). This victory led to a great night I may add. Even despite the fact that my friends and I got a piece of chicken and soda thrown at us while in a car by drunk Philadelphians. The fact that I don’t have practice everyday gives me way more freetime now. I’ll probably end up volunteering at the nearby hospital and continue to work out to try and bulk up. This also gives me time to think about if I really want to pledge which could lead to some interesting experiences. Right now I’m looking forward to Homecoming weekend and watching some division one basketball at it’s best.

Just Get Up

As a lowly freshman one of the things we are cursed with are eight o’clock classes. Yes I use to wake up at six for high school, but college has longer days. Waking up a seven or seven thirty is a struggle for many and there’s been times where I just wanted to stay in my comfortable dorm bed. Here’s the thing, you can’t. You have to get up, but how? First you need to find a reason. My reason is that I pay a lot of money for college and I also don’t want to fall behind. So you have the reason but you still have to conquer the physical part. You can do the roll, which will definetly wake you up, especially if you don’t have a wide bed like me (Man I miss my bed at home), the scared reaction to alarm clock which means you can immediately sit up when the alarm goes off, or the place cup of water near your bed at night and knock it on yourself in the morning technique, which I haven’t tried yet but I’m sure it would be good. So get moving and hop own these techniques before they sellout.

Buckling Down

This sucks. I just got that famous first semester of freshman year reality check. I wasn’t happy with not one of my mid term grades and that means I have to change some habits.  I always heard the stories about too much partying, and not having a balanced life. It comes at you fast and you’re just not ready for it. By the time finals come around I should be ready as I plan to”

  • Set up a weekly schedule
  • Do work only in the library (I hangout with almost everyone on my floor so I can’t work in my dorm)
  • Participate in workshops with the subjects I’m having trouble in
  • Change my damn major from Philosophy

To any high school seniors reading this, you can party a lot and do things you want easily, just make sure you’re organized.

Relief.

Plain and Simple. I’m am very relieved. Mid term week is over and now I’m heading to fall break. I’m not taking the trip home because I don’t want to pay for three train tickets in a row (fall break, thanksgiving break, christmas break). What I am doing is checking out the New Jersey Scene in my roommate’s hometown. I might even head up to the Big Apple. Part of me wishes everyone would just stay this break so we could party it up but the other part is glad I don’t have to deal with the damn Phillies for a bit.

Mid Terms

This week is the week of the dreaded mid term exams. Meaning I have to study everyday about why Aristotle was turned on so much by virtue and how Alexander the Great was a badass and stuff. With this comes stress, and with stress comes relievers. For some it may be watching your favorite show, eating candy, checking out facebook (which I think backfires) but what I recommend for everyone is running. I have practice everyday and even though it’s tiring I come out with a smile. People who are all fancy smancy talk about endorphines and chemical releases causing you to be happy. What I think it is, is knowing that you’re doing something other people wish they could do. Which they could if they just got up and did it.

My sister is cool

It took a a presentation at a fashion convention to make my sister take my advice. She finally understands how blogging can help her recreationally and professionally. Geesh.

Check it out here:

I’m sure most of my readers aren’t into fashion but check it out anyway.

It’s been a looong time. Damn Long actually. I’m finally getting use to my schedule including classes and practices. I now think I can say with confidence that I’m going to go back to normal posting. There might be some drastic changes to my blog content also probably focusing more on college and less on career aspirations. I also learned that I actually do want to continue with pre med and maybe I don’t want to go for a talent agent career (even though I still want to move to California when I’m done) but this doesn’t mean that I’ll have science content in this blog because I won’t. Please be patient, flexible, and most importantly open minded.

Twitter Class

Like in most colleges, there are required classes to take. Most of my classes this semester are required classes and one of them is a computer science class. I’m thinking microsoft word, outlook, all that basic stuff. Well what a suprising day I had when the professor told us to make a twitter account (which I already had) and encouraged us to post in our classes’ hash tag. The other surprising thing about this event was like only me and one other girl actually had an account before. I’d bet $1,000 that I’m the only one in that class with a blog. I’d $1,000,000 that I’m the only one in that class that actually knows that twitter can be professionally helpful if used correctly. Whats your take on this twitter curriculum in a college class?

College Life

Yes, I haven’t posted in a while I know. I moved into college a couple of days ago so I’m adjusting to everything. Some people say they’re adjusting because they’re having a hard time. I say it because I’m getting use to the freedom and individuality here. I can’t tell you how much I’m loving college right now. The people here are chill, the city of Philadelphia is chill, and the parties are excellent.  I will be back to my normal posting in like two days so please be patient.
